SUNRISE PROJECT AWARDED
BEWARE Walloon Region Fellowship

Innovative Coating Solutions is proud to announce that the SUNRISE project (SUperconducting Niobium actuatoRs for gravitational-wave Sensors and sEismic isolation), submitted by Dr. J.V. van Heijningen from UCLouvain, BE, has been awarded the BEWARE Walloon Region (BE) fellowship.

This project takes place within the framework of the next-generation of gravitational wave detectors such as the Einstein Telescope. A cryogenic low-noise displacement actuator, using Niobium thin film deposition technology, must be developed for ET. This actuator can be used in the final cryogenic stages of the mirror suspensions or in cryogenic inertial sensors. The coating technology developed for this will enable many other commercial opportunities for ICS.
